There I Fixed It

In the DIY spirit I decided to do something about the hole in my ceiling. Carpentry is not my thing so I thought I'd go about filling it a different way. Having made the hole by a slip of my foot it seemed right to fill the hole with a foot. Much better!

Dimensions Galleria Opening

The opening reception for 'Beyond the Garden Wall' at Dimensions Galleria in Petaluma, CA was tons of fun. I met so many terrific people and a whole bunch of artists from the Sonoma area. There is quite a variety of work in the show - something for everyone. If you are in the area before the end of May it is well worth a visit.

Potter's Council Porcelain Workshop

I just got back from a fabulous workshop in not-so-sunny San Diego. The weekend focused on working with porcelain. The highlights for me were the presentations by Tom and Elaine Coleman. I've long been an admirer of their work so it was really fun to get to meet them and watch them work. i got to bring home a sample of Coleman Porcelain which I'm anxious to try. I haven't thrown with porcelain in MANY years so I'm up for the challenge. If nothing else it will make beautiful angel Christmas ornaments.I usually use a white stoneware when I make them but the translucency of the porcelain will be really nice. Several of the presenters were using porcelain slip to enhance their surfaces. It was goopy and thick and wonderfully textural. I've been doing a lot of stamping in my own work recently so we'll see if I take a fork in the road to try some slip work.

Art in the Cellars is Just a Week Away

Handley Cellars in Philo, CA is hosting Art in the Cellars again this year the weekend of Feb 5th. Handley opens up their cellars for large scale art works which are hung from the barrel racks and placed throughout the cellar. Visitors are treated to a trip into the cellars to see the artworks while enjoying their wine tasting. It is a fun treat to get to see this show. If you are in Anderson Valley that weekend be sure to stop by and see it. I will have several of my pieces on display including the totem pole that I created last spring to be part of a show in Omachi, Japan.
